The Rosary

o Marian prayer is better known and loved than the rosary. Not only is it a way of praising and honoring Mary, the rosary is a summary of our faith,a remembering of our Christian story of redemption. Edward Schillebeeckx explains he value of the rosary in Mary, Mothe of the Redemption:

The Value of the prayer of the Rosary is to be found in its concentration on
the saving mystery of the Redemption. It was Christ who brought this
redemption. But Mary is actively present in and associated with the whole
of this historical order. The Rosary is a synthetic Christological creed, a
symbolum or compendium of dogma and doctrine, in the form of a prayer
of meditation. a summary, in prayer, of the whole of the dogma
of Redemption.
THE MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY

In summary of our faith is found in the fifteen mysteries of the rosary. Together the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious mysteries outline the Christian story of redemption. starting with the annunciation of the angel Gabriel to Mary and ending with the coronation of Our lady in heaven.
The mysteries of the rosary present the mysteries of our faith - the incarnation, passion, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord, - a story like fashion so that we can meditate on the depth and meaning of each blessed event.

When we concentrate on the mysteries of our faith as they are revealed in the mystery of Jesus Christ,we are coonected to the life of Mary, his mother,because his life and death are intrinsically tied to hers. The mysteries of the rosary offer us a way to reflect on her life in the context of his.

The Rosary enables us to follow Mary's development, the growth of her life,
In faith and hope we are to experience all the phases of the mystery of Christ,
to proceed from the joys of the mother and her Child, to proceed from the joys
if the mother and the her child,to go beyond the sufferings endured by the Redeemer
and his mother and eventually to reach the point where we share in Mary's happiness
in her Son's victory and triumph, Christ - personal redemption, Redemption itself - is
